During its tour of duty in Malaysia 1964 and 1965, the unique and legendary 1st Battalion Royal New Zealand Infantry Regiment had a posted strength of 981 personnel. The following Roll of Honour is a record of the known names who were either:
- Killed in action during subsequent service in South Vietnam
- Passed away whilst on service in Malaysia
- Passed away following return to New Zealand
- Passed away following subsequent service in South Vietnam and return to New Zealand
The campaign awards earned by members of the First Battalion, Royal New Zealand Infantry Regiment during its tour of duty from late 1963 to late 1965 are the:
- New Zealand Operational Service Medal
- New Zealand General Service Medal [Warlike]
- British General Service Medal 1962, Malay Peninsula clasp
- British General Service Medal 1962, Borneo clasp
The members were also awarded the Pingat Jasa Malaysia medal [Malaysia Honour Medal] by the Malaysian Government in 2005.
Following the Battalion's return to New Zealand approximately 30% of its personnel subsequently served in South Vietnam.
